Conditions We Treat with PRP Injection Therapy

If you are exploring regenerative medicine, one of the biggest questions is usually "what kinds of problems may actually be considered for PRP Injections?"

At Davis Family Chiropractic & Express Clinic, these treatments may be discussed for select joint, tendon, ligament, and soft tissue conditions. This page is here to help you understand the types of problems that may lead to a regenerative medicine conversation with our doctors.

That does not mean every condition listed here automatically qualifies for treatment. Candidacy depends on the diagnosis, how long the problem has been going on, severity, exam findings, prior treatment history, imaging when needed, and doctor recommendation.

Important Before Scheduling

PRP Injection Therapy is not a direct-book appointment. Patients must first be established and evaluated by one of our doctors and treatment must be recommended before the office can schedule an injection appointment.

New patients: Schedule a "New Patient Exam" to discuss whether regenerative injection therapy may be appropriate.

Current patients: Ask the doctor during your visit whether PRP treatment may be recommended for your condition.

PRP Injections

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. It uses a concentrated portion of the patient's own blood as part of a doctor-directed treatment plan. PRP may be discussed on its own for certain joint, tendon, ligament, and soft tissue concerns.

Joint Degeneration and Osteoarthritis

Regenerative injection therapy may be discussed for certain cases involving degenerative change, joint irritation, and osteoarthritis-related pain. The goal of this page is not to promise a specific outcome, but to help patients understand when a conversation may be appropriate.

Conditions We May Evaluate:

  • Degenerative joint disease
  • Hip osteoarthritis
  • Knee osteoarthritis
  • Ankle osteoarthritis
  • Shoulder osteoarthritis
  • Elbow Osteoarthritis
  • Wrist osteoarthritis

Tendonitis, Fascia, and Partial-Thickness Tears

Chronic tendon and soft tissue problems are another major reason patients ask about PRP options. These issues can be frustrating because they often linger, flare with activity, or fail to calm down as quickly as expected.

Upper Body / Thigh:

  • Chronic tendonitis
  • Partial-thickness tears
  • Rotator cuff
  • Biceps
  • Golfer’s elbow
  • Tennis elbow
  • Gluteus medius
  • Hamstring

Lower Leg / Foot / Other:

  • Piriformis syndrome
  • Patellar tendonitis
  • Quadriceps tendonitis
  • Peroneal tendon issues
  • Tibialis posterior tendon issues
  • Achilles
  • Plantar fascitis

Ligament, Meniscus, and Labral Injuries

Some ligament and structural soft tissue injuries may also lead to a regenerative medicine discussion. Whether PRP therapy is even worth considering depends on the exact tissue involved, the extent of injury, the exam, and the overall treatment plan.

Conditions We May Evaluate:

  • Ulnar collateral ligament injury of the elbow
  • Medial collateral ligament injury of the knee
  • Meniscus injury
  • Labral tears

Not Sure If Your Diagnosis Is Listed?

You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting the office. Some patients already know their diagnosis. Others just know they have ongoing pain, stiffness, weakness, or repeated flare-ups in a joint tendon, ligament, or soft tissue area.

If you are not sure whether your condition belongs on this page, the best next step is still an evaluation.
